The Food Pantry operates
from 9:30 AM until 12 noon
on the first and third Wednesdays
of each month.

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Varnell UMC’s Food Pantry is a non-profit volunteer organization.  It is open to residents who live in the Whitfield and Murray counties on the first and third Wednesday of every month from 9:30 AM until 12 noon.  Currently, we distribute food, meat, and personal items (when available) by means of a drive- through on our church campus with the participants remaining in their vehicles at all times.

In order to receive food through our pantry, participants must fill out a sheet with basic information such as name, address, telephone number, number of people in family, and birthdate.

Our food pantry provides food and other necessities through personal donations, school or Boy Scout food drives, and grants.  Most of our food is purchased through the Chattanooga and Atlanta Area Food Banks, and is supplemented by purchasing meat and personal items locally.

We serve approximately 120-170 families every 2 weeks (around 4,000 boxes a year).[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator border_width=”5″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Directions

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Participants, come to the church and drive onto the church property via the entrance off Highway 2.  You will follow the directional signs to the first station, where you will be handed paperwork to fill out for each family receiving food.  You will also be given a small sheet with a number on it and a list of personal items that are available on that particular day.  After receiving your paperwork, you will then park your vehicle in the east parking lot, fill out your paperwork, choose the personal items you would like, and wait for your number to be called.

Once your number is called, you will drive  under the portico to the second station, where you will turn in your paperwork.  It will be looked over to make sure the information has been filled out correctly.

Once you are given the OK, you will then drive around the church to the west parking lot to the third station, where you will wait in the vehicle line until someone comes to take your number sheet.   A volunteer will then bring your food and personal items and place them in your vehicle.

You may leave the church property by either the Highway 2 exit or the Country Way exit.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”3859″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” onclick=”img_link_large” img_link_target=”_blank”][vc_column_text]
